Our steering committee members mostly reside in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, and most of us served as Peace Corps Volunteers in Mali. All of us are volunteering our time (and money) to this important project.
Michelle Chan, senior program manager at Friends of the Earth, has a degree in international development. She visited Mali in early 2012 and fell in love with the country and the people.
Matthew Heberger is an environmental engineer and policy analyst at the Pacific Institute in Oakland. Matt served in the Peace Corps in Mali as a water and sanitation extension agent in the village of Wakoro in the Segou Region from 1996 – 1998.
Jenna Lohmann was also Mali Peace Corps Volunteer, serving as as a water and sanitation volunteer in the Koulikoro region from 2011–12. She now works as an environmental scientist for a consulting firm in Oakland, California.
Marlow Schindler served in Peace Corps Mali as a Small Enterprise Development Advisor in the small village of N’tjilla, Sikasso from 2011-2012. Her primary service was with a community bank, and she participated in a variety of a secondary projects ranging from co-hosting a radio show on health and nutrition to founding a middle school girl’s soccer team.
Our fiscal sponsor is African Sky, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in Ohio. The organization is able to accept online donations and process credit cards, and has pledged to pass on 100% of the donations to us without charging any fees or overhead.
